Efficiency and other ratings, such as noise, are important factors when choosing your power supply. To learn more about power supply ratings and their significance for your next build, check out our latest article on 80 PLUS vs. Cybenetics.

Either power supply series is a good option for building a system, as both include PCIe 6+2 connectors for your graphics card. If your graphics card uses a 12VHPWR or 12V-2x6 power connector, you'll need an additional cable to connect it. Alternatively, you can simply use the adapter that came with the card along with the cables provided with the RMx Series power supply.

POSITION OF THE MODULAR CABLE CONNECTORS

Typically, modular cable connectors are located on the rear of the power supply, opposite the side where you plug in the power cord. The CORSAIR RMx Series follows this standard design. Depending on your case, space in this area may be limited, making it challenging to fit the cables and difficult to reach these ports when upgrading your system.

Enter the CORSAIR RMx SHIFT Series. We've conveniently shifted the placement of these ports to the side of the power supply, making it easier to connect additional cables as needed. The PSU and cables fit into any PC case that supports the ATX PSU format and is at least 210mm (8.3") wide. Additionally, the PSU must also be accessible from the side when mounted in the case.

Essentially , both the CORSAIR RMx Series and the RMx SHIFT Series are capable power supplies, but the latter offers better access if your case can accommodate it. Check out our full list of power supplies for more options.
